Club Sailing
Up
to 2003, Volunteer,
the yacht of the RNVR Yacht Club, provided sailing opportunities for non-yacht
owning members. However, owing to an increasing level of ownership of yachts
by Club members, her usage has fallen to the extent that it is not viable to
continue with Club ownership of a yacht. Accordingly, Volunteer
will not be replaced until such time that a suitably sound case is established
for the Club to revert to yacht ownership. In the meantime, the Club's resources
for Club Sailing will be directed towards yacht charters for Club events and
to organised Club sailing weekends. Such weekends will be arranged so that yacht
owning members could make their yachts available to other members to gain crewing
opportunities. Dates and details of the Club Sailing weekends will be announced
in due course.
To
facilitate yacht owning Club members inviting crew from within the Club, a
"Crew Register" section
is included in the Members' Area of this website. Club Members, who wish it
be known that they are available as crew for Club Sailing or any other sailing
activities, are encouraged to contact
Martin Alexander to
have their details included in this "Crew Register"
Also,
Members are encouraged to make use of Impian
,
a 2004 Bavaria 38, of Lioness, a 1989 Jeanneau Sun Charm and and also of Ocean Sovereign which are operated commercially
by Club Members Jeremy Donne, Adrian Anstey and Nigel Collingwood respectively. Details for chartering these yachts are to be found on the respective Members' Notices in the Members' Area of this website.
